First Thor: Ragnarok Teaser Trailer Released

We’ve seen a great surge of marketing in the past few months for Marvel’s upcoming movies. Spiderman: Homecoming has received two extensive trailers as well as a whole host of posters, whilst Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 has also had almost countless trailers and TV spots. The final Marvel movie of the year though, Thor: Ragnarok, had been rather quiet in comparison. That was until today. The first teaser trailer for the third installment in the Thor series can be seen below.

Thor: Ragnarok has a very different feel to the previous movies in the franchise, which is honestly refreshing. Whilst the original Thor was a fun romp, the follow up, Thor: The Dark World, was ultimately a disappointment. The decision to appoint Kiwi director Taika Waititi, known for his excellent What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople, was a much-needed injection of excitement and fun into the franchise. It seems from this first trailer that the trust in him was well placed. Thor: Ragnarok looks truly spectacular.

We get a first look at Cate Blanchett as Hela, the Goddess of Death, who looks like more than a match for the Asgardian. There is also a first look at the gladiatorial Thor in action as well as the Incredible Hulk. Let’s not forget about Loki though either, last seen in The Dark World impersonating Odin. And of course everyone’s favourite, Jeff Goldblum, pops up as the Grandmaster.

Ragnarok looks much more Guardians than it does the first Thor, but that is not a bad thing. As Thor goes cosmic, Ragnarok riffs on space adventures of the seventies and eighties. The visuals may be bright and exciting, but it is still a Waititi film. His films always feature his own unique style and wit. Speaking of which, that line at the end may be one of the best in a Marvel trailer ever.

The anticipation for this one just got cranked up.

Thor: Ragnarok will be released on November 3rd 2017.
