A new Xbox One bundle was announced today that is aimed squarely at the type of gamer who requires high levels of precision and customization. This particular bundle includes a black console with a matte finish, a 1TB solid state hybrid drive and one of the upcoming Elite controllers for $499 USD. Unfortunately there will be no game packed in but I suspect this bundle will be included in some sort of discount or “pick any game for free with purchase” promotion during the holiday season. At that price there are no significant savings over a standard console with a 1TB hard drive but that particular console packs a solid state hybrid drive which Microsoft says will boot from standby mode 20% faster than the standard hard drives.
The Elite controller was announced during Microsoft’s E3 press conference and will retail for $150 by itself. It features hair trigger locks, stainless steel thumbsticks, a faceted D-pad and paddles that can be attached to the controller as well as button remapping and the ability to save two controller profiles to the device.
The Elite Bundle will be available on November 3rd at GameStop and Microsoft Stores. You can preorder the system at either retailer today.
