If you’ve been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, then you should know that Disney and Lucasfilm have released the final trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The trailer’s taking the world by storm and for good reason.
The trailer starts off by introducing the three new main characters of the movie: Rey, Finn and the villainous Kylo Ren. Then it goes into familiar territory as Han Solo reveals to Rey and Finn that the stories they’ve heard about the past are true, the light side and dark side are very much real; a drastic change from what Han said in the original Star Wars film. Then the trailer showcases a bunch of exciting shots, accompanied by John Williams’s iconic score, before ending with Kylo Ren about to attack a very scared looking, lightsaber wielding Finn.
The trailer has received an overwhelmingly positive amount of feed back. Star Wars is back and it looks just as good as ever.
Ticket pre-orders went up after the trailer debuted and they smashed the previous records. The previous record holder was The Hunger Games, Star Wars didn’t just beat it…. It crushed the record by eight times. The demand for tickets pre-orders was so strong that it crashed almost all of the sites offering pre-orders.
Theaters are even starting to report that the movie is almost completely sold out for the opening weekend. It’s highly likely that Star Wars will beat the opening weekend record set earlier this year by Jurassic World. Some even think that the movie will finally be able to take the highest grossing movie crown away from 2009’s Avatar.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens on December 18.
