Predator

The Predator Barely Makes a Mark This Weekend

The Summer movie season is officially over. I’m calling it now that The Predator has been released with a dismal $24 million opening weekend. The Nun also had a poor weekend as it dropped 66% from its opening weekend take.

The movie A Simple Favor actually had a good opening weekend when you consider the movies its competing against. The movie features Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick in a dark comedy directed by Paul Feig. The Predator has a world-wide gross of $54.7 million at the time of writing this. It looks like this movie will do just a little better domestically then Predator 2 when it was released back in 1990. Weekend Top Five

5. Crazy Rich Asians $8.7 million

4. White Boy Rick $8.8 million

3. A Simple Favor $16 million

2. The Nun $18.2 million

1. The Predator $24 million

Next weekend we will see plenty of movies being released in a more limited release. Only one movie is going to be released in over 3,000 theaters. The House With A Clock In Its Walls is going to slide into one of the top two spots. Given that Fall is approaching The Nun could see a resurgence at the box office. I’m hopeful that this October Venom, Bad Times at the El Royale, Goosebumps 2, and Halloween all do well at the box office. Those are the movies that I’m the most excited to watch as the days get shorter.
