Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana Coming To Nintendo Switch

January has shaped up to be a great month for fans of the venerable RPG series, Ys. Not only will PC players finally get their own version of the latest game in the franchise, Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana, Switch owners will also be able to take their adventure on the go when it is released on Nintendo’s hybrid console. Most of the games in this series are centered around a young man named Adol who apparently has the worst luck with boats – they often seem to crash near enemy infested islands when he is a passenger!

This time Adol’s boat is attacked by a massive sea creature and after failing to defeat it, he wakes up cursed island filled with ancient ruins and of course, powerful monsters. You have to round up the other survivors of the shipwreck, maintain a base for them and solve the mystery of the island.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will ship with a standard edition for the Nintendo Switch but if you are feeling spendy, check out the $99.99 Limited Edition which includes the game, a collector’s box, soundtrack CD, a hardcover copy of The Codex of Adol Christin: Periplus of the Goethe Sea Writing Materials, a softcover art book and a letter opener shaped like the Mistilteinn.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will be available on PC by the end of this month and on Nintendo Switch in the summer. A localization patch is also in the works for the Vita and PS4 versions of the game.
